Custom Crating & Freight
Custom Crating & Freight Services in Coastal Maine
When items require more than standard packing, custom crating and freight services provide the protection and control needed for safe transport. At Norumbega Moving & Storage, we design and manage custom crating and freight solutions for residential and commercial customers throughout Mount Desert Island and coastal Maine.
From fragile household items to commercial equipment and specialty pieces, our team ensures your shipment is properly protected, prepared, and coordinated from start to finish.
Custom Crating Built for Protection
Not all items can be safely moved using boxes or padding alone. Custom crating provides rigid protection tailored to the specific size, weight, and fragility of your item.
Our custom crating services are ideal for:
-
Artwork and mirrors
-
Antiques and heirlooms
-
Electronics and sensitive equipment
-
Furniture requiring rigid protection
-
Commercial or industrial items
-
Irregular or oversized pieces
Each crate is built specifically for the item being shipped, helping prevent movement, vibration, and impact during transport.
Freight Preparation & Coordination
Once items are properly crated or prepared, our team coordinates freight transport using reliable carriers suited to the shipment’s size and destination.
Our freight services include:
-
Palletizing and secure load preparation
-
Crating and protective wrapping
-
Coordination with freight carriers
-
Scheduling pickup and delivery
-
Proper staging for transport
We ensure shipments are ready, protected, and released on schedule to avoid delays or damage.
White-Glove Care for Local Moves
Freight shipments often require flexibility in timing. We offer secure receiving and storage options so shipments can be held safely until delivery or installation is ready.
Services include:
-
Receiving and inspection of freight shipments
-
Secure short-term or long-term storage
-
Inventory tracking and documentation
-
Scheduled final delivery to homes, job sites, or businesses
This managed approach removes logistical headaches and keeps projects on track.
